I need a little help to decide which amp to buy.  I am considering two amps.  First off, I have 1 Audiobahn Flame Q 12" Sub (rated at 1100W RMS wired in parallel)  in a ported box.  I have decided to go with either the Sony XM-SD51X amp (which is rated at 500 x 1 RMS at 2 Ohms) or the Audiobahn A8000T (which is rated at 800 x 1 RMS at 2 Ohms)  The Sony amp is a Class D, and the Audiobahn is a Class A/B.  I have a 2003 Dodge Neon and I'm not sure what the alternator rating is, but I think it's around 85A.  I really don't want to upgrade my alternator, and I would like to stay away from getting a capacitor as well (although that may change).  I talked to someone at Crutchfield and he was kinda helpful.  He suggested getting the Audiobahn amp.  He said that the Audiobahn amp wouldn't really draw that much more current compared to the Sony amp.  All I am really worried about is considering which one I should choose that would be better for my cars alternator.  Any help would be appreciated.

The A8000T will blow that Sony amp away without even trying...your alternator should be fine with that amp.

go with the audiobahn and dont waste your money on a cap if you do have a problem with dimming which i dont think you will take the $100 to $150 you whould of spent on a cap and get an alternater from db eletric

How about neither, get a real amp not flea market stuff.

What is your budget?

And damn the caps in your situation, they won't help dimming lights! Only alternators will.

Just remember sometimes thats not possible to do, some people ,myself included use lower end equipment because its cheap in cost, saving may never be an option

Example being my wifes Audiobahn pre built MSRP is $399.99, I paid just around $50.00 for it my Brutus 1500D MSRP $379 paid less than $150

Does it sound good? that no longer matters to me anymore since my hearing is going,  is it loud?  yeah extremely

There is never anything wrong with lower end equipment as long as you understand its lower end equipment

Just a thought

I suggest this because there are better prouducts to be had at reasonable prices. That is why I asked for a budget.
