I plan on either running a 2 10" setup or a 4 10" setup.

Right now, I have a MTX6500D amp that I would like to reuse. If I were to purchase another 6500D, would the two amps be enough to push 4 10" Type Rs?

4 Type S run $317 shipped
4 Type R run $413 shipped

This is the list of amps that a local shop gave me prices on:

Kenwood KDC-7201 800W 2Ch. NEW: $99 RB: $89
Kenwood KDC-7252 1000W 2Ch, $129
Kenwood KDC-9252 1800W 2 Ch, $169
Clarion APA 250 200W 2 Ch, $59
Clarion APA 450 400W 4 Ch, NEW $79, RB $69
Punch P2002 600W 2 Ch, NEW $115, RB $105
Punch P3001 900W 1 Ch, NEW $145, RB $125
Boss C-700 1200W 2 Ch, $79
Boss RT-1045 1600W 2 Ch, $105
Boss RT-2500D 2500W 1 Ch, $149
Crunch BMF2250 1000W 2 Ch, $75

Regardless, I'm going to be buying 2 10s first, then possible adding 2 more later (within a month).

Also, I'm not limited to the Alpine subs, just really like my 12" Type R before.

The type R's are well worth the extra $100 over the type S's. I have (2) 10" Type R's in my Silverado Xcab (giving them 450rms each) and am more than overwhelmed with the power and sound...not sure why you'd need 4 of them unless you're competing or hard of hearing (or want to eventually be hard of hearing).

Make sure whatever amp you get can push 500rms to these subs because they can definately take it (stay very well away from the Boss & Crunch amps...IMO)

I'm running my whole system on an Audiobahn A1504DP amp (I know alot of people bag on Audiobahn...mee too but just on their subs & speakers). It's a true 4 channel digital amp that is stable down to 1ohm on all 4 channels. I'm giving the comps 150rms@4ohm and each of the Type R's 450rms@1ohm and the sound is very clean and more than I actually need in a truck. I got the amp for $299 on Ebay (just in case you're interested in still running (4) 10's you can do it from this one amp)

Just my 2 cents and I know others opinions will vary

I can't seem to find that amp on ebay though. Any other suggestions?

go to www.sonicelectrnix.com (actually where I got mine from on Ebay)

The are currently out of stock on the A1504DP, but they do have the A1502DP in stock (2 channel version) and the prices are even better then when I bought mine. I've bought a few things from them with no problems so I'll give them a "thumbs up" for their service.

There's more info on theie website

HiFonics is good bang for your buck. But they have a fairly high return rate.

Well, I got cardomain to beat soniceletronix.com's price on the Audiobahn A1504DP. It's $315, and looking like my best bet :) Total is going to be $328 shipped from a very reputable online store.
