I want to get 2, 12 inch subwoofers for my trunk to get some good base and i have no idea what kind of Subs or Amps i need to mix and match.  I've been looking at different products and don't understand the amount of watts that are need to combine the subs and amp.  i don't know what the difference between the Rms and the peak wattage.  if someone could please help out this newbie to understand what i need to buy so that things will be flowing right??

Just understand that you will spend tons of money and probably never be really satisfiedposted_image

But to get things flowing right I might suggest you look at class D amplifiers for your subs. They tend to be "geared" toward bass systems and are pretty efficient.

Pick your subs first then find an amp to match their rms power requiremnets not peak (peak power should generally be ignored). You don't need subs that require huge amounts of power, this will end up costing you more than you can imagine. Moderate power can yield great results too. A good enclosure will be the determinng factor here.

Check out crutchfield.com for some real numbers and a selection of decent products.
