My subwoofer amp goes into protect mode every so often when the bass hits deep or the volume is up a little bit. The level is only on about half way and it is not even bumping very hard, but still cuts out. WHat could the problem be? Also, i have a level knob, a lpf knob, and a hpf knob. How should these be set?

What is your input sensitivity for your RCA's on the amplifier in comparison to your head unit's RCA voltage ? Some amps can not handle the high output's from HU's.

i have a panasonic CQ-DFX701U  headunit and a Lanzar Vibe 258 amp. Would the voltage problem only occur at high volumes?

Do you have your gain properly set to the head unit?

yes as you turn up your volume it raises the output voltage to that amp, or so i understand... this could be your problem... what size wire are you running for power? I personally dont have any experience with lanzar amps, but i dont think they are too great... what ohm are your speakers wires to?
