the other day i went to my local flea market and stop by the sound shop and saw a 3 farad 24 volt cap. the cap was made by power acoutiks. i was woundering what can use 24 volts, i was think the only way you can get in a car is 2 bats in series but everythink would fry at 24 volts. what can a 24 volt cap be used just woundering
Any capacitor in any car power system will charge up to whatever voltage is being supplied by the alternator. No more, no less. Many car audio caps are rated for 24 volts, some for 40 or 50 volts. It simply indicates the maximum charge potential for that capacitor, and you want a cap to be rated at no less than 16 volts - if you really need one.

In looking at the website for an AGM battery I noticed that it appears the stereo sound competitors are using 17.7v power systems to run the equipment.. can anyone verify this?
