hello i just bought a new car 1996 bmw 325i full reiger kit i wanted to make a new box since my old stereo got sold with my old car. i am wanting to build a tri tune box but kinda confused i try to stay away from box building cause of the complexity. i have a 12" alpine type r dual vocie coil 4 ohm . and am powering it with a alpine mrv 1005 amplifier. if anybody has built this box before can u plz post me a rough outline of the dimesions. i know the tri tune boxes sound hectic. or if anybody has a site in whick would help me to build a box sealed box volume should be 0.8 and 1.0 cubic feet. if anyone can help i would appericate it thanks
ok , well if you are looking for an SPL application there is no real point in building a ported box because this sub is more for SQ applications. You will not get SPL results if thats what you are looking for.

What is a "tri tune box"? Are you referring to a bandpass enclosure, where the woofer is buried inside the box, and vented to the outside? Never having even HEARD of a "tri tune box", I can't help you, and I bet most anybody else here wouldn't be able to, either...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
a "tri tuned" box if i remember right is a vented box made to spec for the sub then it has an addition on the side that i beleive is about half the size of the part with the sub..then you put a port to connect the two box's and a port comming out of each box as well... but the whole time the sub is still seen outside the box

This is not true. The Type R's work very well in ported boxes, and get quite loud. Not sure about a tri tune box??

Check it out.
Tri Tuned box= BOSE Acoustimass sub.....
Be very very prepared to do some very serious math, and a pretty big box.... the Bose box has I believe 2 5.25" woofers in it, and is fairly big.
Do a simple ported or sealed.... your brain will thank you later.
