I just bought a High Output alternator off ebay. But I got played and it sucks about just as good as my factory. It is saposed to be 200 amps but there is no way that it can be. I never get 14 volts and it goes down to 11.9 volts when the bass hits for a while. Well I do not want to get another one becasue I might be getting a new dodge magnum but i dont no how soon. SO I was thinking more farads for now. I all ready have 2 farrad cap it was working great for my subs until I added my 4 ch amp. now my system is strugling for power. I was thinking 20 or a 40 farad cap off ebay. Unless you have a recomendation. They way I se it now my subs witha 2 farad cap was ok. 40 should cover it all. My system is a RE Audio SX 15 , Soundstream CLASS A 10.0 and Hifonic Bruts 170X4 and audiobahn comps which need to be upgraded later. Im pushing about 1500 1600 watts at most.

Did you test your old Alternator? What was that putting out? Have you done the "big 3"? How is your battery in the car? Hey Kevin, have you given these people a negative feedback and contacted e-bay fraud division (if they sold you something that does not work like advertised)? ------------- (1) Kenwood Excelon Head Unit KDC-X589 (24 bit Burr Brown DAC, 3 X 4 volt RCA).

A battery is about the same cost as a cap and is about 10000X more effective ;) Optima yellowtop baby.

a cap is not gonna help you. take that alt to a rebuild shop and let the check it for you.

i forgot to metion I have a yellow top optima allready just for my system in the back running of a pac 200 amp relay. my system was fine before with a 2 farad cap, and stock alt withno 4 ch amp. no with 4 ch amp Im having problems . I no my 4 ch is not working as hard as my 2ch and thats why I thought if 2 farads was fine before more should be fine. I dont no of any alternator shops. What do I look foor in the phone bok alt shop?

Do you have it isolated, or are you running two batteries? If you are running two batteries and they are NOT the same batteries and roughly the same date, they will kill eachother off quickly. In fact, i did this with a yellow top in the rear and an interestate up front. Within a year, both batteries were worthless.

Take all of the above advice. A cap, no matter how many farads capacity, has to be continually charged. What provides the power? The alternator. Call some local mechanics and find out where you can take that alt for an inspection and test. If you get someone who knows what he's doing, ask him to go over your car's wiring and make sure the factory wiring is upgraded as well as the grounds. ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

what to look for auto eletric shops look under auto and then look for the shops that specalize in alternaters and starters
