So I’ll be running a set of Diamond Audio D661s components up front pushed by a PG Tantrum 500.2 and a set of Diamond Audio D351i for rear fill. I’ll also be running 2 Diamond Audio TDX10D2’s in the trunk. For the sub amps I’ve been looking at the Audiobahn A18001DT (1800x1@1), the Kicker KX1200.1 (1200x1@1), or the Diamond Audio D6 1500.1 (1500x1@1). Are these about what I should be considering or is this overkill?? Which one would you suggest?? With running a 3 amp set up like this, what size cap should I use?? Can I get away with just one battery or do I need 2?? And lastly, do I need to upgrade my alternator and if so to what amperage?? I could use a few deck suggestions as well…Thanks for the help Rob 98 MB C230

Well, the Idiotbahn will do nowhere NEAR the 1800 watts it claims... Personally, I'd go with the Diamond. Also, if you are planning on running ONE amplifier (any of the three listed) those woofers will be the wrong ones... You are going to want the TDX10D4. I hope you have not bought the woofers yet...
(4) two ohm voice coils will give you 8, 2, or .5 ohms to work with
(4) four ohm voice coils will give you 16, 4 or 1 ohm to work with.
Anyway...
100 watts (@66% efficiency = 150watts) plus 1500 watts (@80% efficiency = 1875 watts) will be a total of 2050 watts. Divided by 14.4 volts = 142A (maximum)
Figure 100A continuous. Your stock Benz alternator WON'T do that for long. You need to upgrade it FIRST. Take that $80.00, and put it toward the part that will actually HELP your system. Did you do any searching on caps here in this forum? If you did, you'll find they won't do you much good.

The D6 1500.1 will match up to a pair of TDXs quite well, make sure to get the 10D4s though as mentioned above.

You guys still don't quite understand. I bought the D2's because I will be running 1 amp to each sub. My question is, is this too much power or dead on??

Looks to me to be a bit overpowered. Those woofers are rated 800RMS, and you will be running a bit more than that to them. It CAN be done, but I do not recommend it to the novice. Personally, I run 2700 watts to a single Eclipse Ti12, and I have never had a problem. As I said, it CAN be done, but most people will end up FRYING their woofers with a 50% overpowering...
OK, I didn't read your post carefully enough. 2 amps... Gotcha. This will only reinforce my previous statement and recommendation fo the alternator. ANOTHER 1500 watt amplifier adds an additional 130A load to the system. You need an alternator. A cap WON'T HELP YOU IN THIS SITUATION. Get an alternator. Period.

Can you show me where it says they are 800w RMS? I saw them listed as 1500w RMS....

This says 800w. I couldn't find them on the Diamond website though. ------------- Nik

Sweet, then I'll probably just go with the DA D61000.1 to each.

TDX is the same as D9, they don't have the old models on the site is all. And yea a pair of D6 1000.1 would work good if your doing one amp for each, I did not see that either.
You will need a bigger alternator as said above.
