I am in need of replacing my semi-blown Kickers Comp C10D subs.  They have been on a downfall for the past 6 months and are really sounding like crap now espesially at lower volumes.  These speakers are about 6 years old and I had the same speakers for a few years before that.  I simply love them, but Kicker does not make this model anymore.  I am far, far from an audiophile, but I am looking for something around the same 89.5 sensitivity that these subs have.  I am just confused at why some of the top of the line speakers have such a low sensitivity rating.

My current set up is 2-10" Kicker Comp C10D, Alpine MRV-T500 amp rated at 75W x2 @ 4 Ohm from the factory, which I am assuming gives me 300 W @ 4 Ohms bridged according to the manual since the 50W x 2 =200W bridged.  I am also running an Epiccenter.  The rest of the system is the stock Mach system in a 2003 Ford Taurus.  And I have a split chamber sealed box that I built to tuck under the rear deck in the truck, with about 10 pounds of fiberglass on it to reinforce it.  It is an odd shaped box, so yeah, I needed the fiberglass.  Anyways, I am mostly interested in sound quality.  I listen to hard rock, country, jazz, classical, an some rap.

I am hoping to get the 2 subs for under $300, if possible.

I am very close to 1 cu ft per sub.

You are bridging a 2-channel so I will assume your net impedence will need to be 4-ohms?
2x4ohm DVC 10s?

254.90 for the pair shipped.

RMS on these is a little higher than you might be comfortable with, but so is the sensitivity. 94dB eh? A very clean sub.. one of my perennial favorites.

I love this woofer so I went ahead and modeled it for you so you could see *exactly* what you'd be getting:

The roll off down below 40hz really isn't so great but that's pretty standard for a sealed box.. especially with a smaller woofer like a 10..

..I think the curve looks pretty good..

Wow thanks so much guys.  I looked at a few Infinity subs yesterday, but I didn't look at this particular model.   It has a higher sensitivity than the others and it is dual 4-ohm which is perfect.  My amp is putting out around 300 RMS at 12V, but the amp has a higher output at 14.4V Dynamic Power.  According to the specs of the amp it runs about 100 W higher than the 12V.  How do I know if I am using 12V or the full 14.4V output.  The sub is perfect for my application, I am just curious as to the true output of my amp.  Also my amp gets very hot after about 20 minutes of blasting it pretty loud.  I do have a cooling fan on my amp rack, but is there something else that can be done?

These woofers will make you right happy. I'm heavily leaning towards 3 of them to repace my dying 13w6.

Car power supplies do not run at a fixed voltage. Literally dozens if not hundreds of factors play into what voltage your car might be at at any given moment. Say you are blasting your stereo, got ur brights and the defrost and the seat warmers on... maybe your car drops down to 11.0 - 10.5 and really starts scraping the battery. On the other hand, nice summer day, windows down, no lights or power anything, just the stereo playing.. you might be pegged at 13.8... either way you really won't notice a sonic difference from your amp.

Forget not the amount of electricity your car produces changes, drastically, with engine speed as well. 12v is kinda an average. The true output of your amp would prolly be all over place... unregulated power supplies are kinda like that... again.. you won't really *hear* a difference.

For the record, *no* power supply will feed an actively playing subwoofer amplifier with an unchanging 14.4v... thats not really how this stuff works.

Read forbidden's comments on this in this thread.

Amps get hot. My e6450 runs so hot that after extended playing you cannot keep your hand on it. If ur amp is a class a/b that is pretty standard for the technology.

Cooling fans of course help, but the heat won't damage the amp unless you wired you stuff to too low an impedence... like <2ohms.
