I'm thinking of putting a small/midsized system in my car. I need some ideas on what i should buy for a sub and a amp. I'm looking to spend around $300 on the whole system.

that's not much. but if this is all you can afford, i would go with a infinity perfect 12 & a decent around 400 rms amp. i'm sure you will be able find a good deal on e-bay.
