I got one of the first gen 8" bazooka bass tubes from a friend for free. I think it is from about 6 or 7 years ago, not sure though. The sub is kind of beat up, but the enclosure still looks okay. I guess the cover must have come off at some point.

The volume of the enclosure is about .6ft^3 and with an exact amount of polyfill I should be able to accomodate most 8" subs in that ported tube.

I wasn't looking to spend alot on this so I have been eyeing the cerwin vega HED 8" ($50).

Any thoughts on what speakers would perform best in this type of enclosure or should they be fine as long as I can match the required box volume?

Thanks guys.

Go for it.  Be sure to pay attention to the amplifier power rating (if it's a powered tube) and get a woofer with an RMS rating higher than the amplifier's output.  The worst that will happen is it will sound like ass and then you'll simply have to slap together an MDF enclosure for the new woofer.

It is an unpowered tube and I have a spare 120watt mono amp I'll be using.

I'm actually curious to see how it turns out. I'll compare the two subs back to back and see if there is even that big of a difference. Then of course post back here how it all turned out.

Thanks!
