I did a search of the forums & couldn't seem to find anything on this.

Most competitors make diagrams of their stereos for display. You know, showing where the signal goes from the stereo to and eq to a crossover, to the amps to the speakers. I had heard of software that did this, but can't seem to find it. Can anyone lead me in the right direction?

Thanks

Yep, it's called Visio, and is available from Microsoft. It is an additional package for Office.   Visio is available from CompUSA, or pretty much any other software retailer. Here's a freeware flowcharter (limited use, I think) also... There are many more on the net, but this'll give you a start...

"Thingy"... Is that one o' them tecknicle turmz? LOL

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Like he said.  Microsoft Visio is where it's at.  From Diagrams for cubicles, diagrams for employees, to car audio.

Sounds like just what I needed. Thanks. I figured that *thingy* was as good a word as any to throw in the title.

Well, tell me your system and I'll draw it using MS Paintposted_image

Note that I'm serious

That's both funny & scary. You going to put thumbnails of all the components in there too?

Honestly though, I'm not totally sure what I'm going to do yet, but wanted to be prepared.

Visio is pricy....Here is a list of 7 flowchart programs which are free (not just free to try but free).

Try them and see which one works for you.

Here's a basic schematic drawn in paint. It's a little none straight forward because I couldn't figure out how to keep some of the lines from crossing each other.

Tell me the components and how they're hooked up and I'll draw parts in more detail. This is just a basic four speaker with sub and three amps

Thanks for the heads up us_test on the free programs. The CADE 2.4.9 looks promising. Though I thought that at some time or another that there was actually a program specifically for car audio purposes (for a charge of course) that had a whole slew of components in it's directory already with thumbnails & specifications. Guess it disappeared since (about 10 years last I really followed the competition scene).

I must say that you did a decent job Poormanq45 in paint. I was however looking for something much more in depth for actual competition purposes. Worst case scenario, I'll just do it in photoshop (probably get more points that way anyhow).

Yeah, it isn't good enough to be displayed, but that's pretty damn good for only using Text and a straight line tool posted_image

Oh, yeah. It's plenty fine for showing friends. Nice for sketching too.

You can also use MS Powerpoint. It works really well if you have it.

My skills in powerpoint are less than stellar. I'd be better in MSpaint. Actually, so far from all the programs I've played with the one originally recommended (FlowChartX) by haemphyst is the most intuitive & professional looking.
