Hey, I am looking at installing an aftermarket cd player into a chev cavalier (2000). I ordered the Wire kit (70-2003t) i was talking to the guy at metra, and he said that i have to re-ocate the cd player. My question is. Do i have to relocate the aftermarket one, or can i just re-locate the factory deck. Also. is there any other way to go about installing this stereo without losing the chime and or airbag?, Any help at all would be greatly appreciated and i thank everyone that helps out.

You can use the $80 Metra harness that relocates the factory radio to the trunk, or you can buy a GM class 2 data bus interface usually around $100 that retains the door chime and airbags without having to relocate the factory stereo.  I always use the peripheral one.  It is easy to wire just like a regular witring harness.  I look up the model number and post it for you.  Good Luck!

It is the Peripheral GMCO.

the Metra GMRC-01 (found at circuit city) interface will allow you to put an aftermarket radio in without relocating the factory radio. it will run you around $60-$80.

yea and the gmrc-01 will replace your factory door chime but thers a process you have to go through so that your airbag light doesnt come on i forgot how it goes but u need to take out your airbag fuse and i think unplug the airbag harness before you tke out the factory radio something like that

I appreciate all help from everybody. Thank you!

yep the peripheral gmco is my favorite by far
i sell it at my shop for like 74.99 and it's very easy to install and retains all your features (RAP, chime, etc.)
