I want to hook up a seperate amp for my rear speakers. At one time I had the power wire hooked up to the battery using the top post. The battery had top and side posts. My new battery only has side posts. How can I tap the pos terminal on a side post battery?

They might make a special bolt to replace the original one to add accessories. I got one for my truck that added a second space on the end that can be tightened independantly of the rest of the bolt for additional stuff, cost me like 6 bucks.
