Hi guy's, i'm new in this car audio forum. A friend of mine is planning to put a MTX sound system in his car but we have a doubt what will be better for his car, he already had post in this forum recently and he want me to post for him now because he have no time right now. We want to know wich one of these two you guy's will choose if you have to choose one of these two: 4 MTX Thunder 7500 12" (T7512-04) 1600 watt RMS 16.5mm Xmax for each woofer, or 2 MTX Thunder 9500 10" (T9510-04) 1500 watt RMS 25.5mm Xmax for each woofer? both of them for SQ & SPL. All of them in Sealed Box. Thanks guys, greetings Aruman.

coming from and mtx authorized dealer hear in southern cal the 4 7500 will absolutly distroy the 2 10 9500 in amout of bass. your comparing a total of 20" of cone space to 48" of cone space pushing air. Also the 9500 are recommended vented. the 7500 sound great sealed. put each pair in a box with an 7 to 8 inch devider in the center and run one amp to each pair make sure to run them mono, also over power the hell out of them don't wory they can handle it. it will sound better if you put to much power and keep you levels low as apposed to turnin them up. another tip with mtx, instead of putting poly fill in the box, buy that foam egg create lookin stuff and put one layer of it only on the back wall of the sub box. try that and let me know.

Thanks Grkinstall for answer me, but the thing that i don't undterstand is that they have almost the same power (watt) the 4 have 1600 watt RMS and the 2 have 1500 Watt RMS. so, the wattage (power) will not be helpfull? i don't understand that part. can you explain me that? so, what if you put the 4 MTX Thunder 12" 7500 series (1600 watt RMS) against 2 12" MTX Thunder 9500 series (2000 watt RMS) should it be a difference now or will the 4 12" MTX 7500 still win the 2 12" MTX 9500? and if you put 2 12" MTX 7500 800W rms against 2 10" 9500 1500W rms, wich one of these two will win? Because they told my friend that 2 12" MTX 7500 series 800 watt will be great, but he want to put the 9500 series but in 10" because of the room space and 1500 watt rms for bass is already a big deal. or not? Interesting question....... here is what I found with the trusty computer All of the following with 800 total watts RMS input and in a free air situation SEALED boxes
2x10" 9500's 114.0db
2x12" 7500's 118.8db
4x12" 7500's 121.8db
All at maximum RMS per driver
2x10" 9500's 116.6db
2x12" 7500's 118.8db
4x12" 7500's 124.8db Please realize that the enclosed car gives quite a bit of boost to those numbers down low. That is just setting them in a free open environment. Nonetheless, the 4x12" and even the 2x12" wins hands down in my opinion. Best result would be 1600 watts RMS in to 4x12 7500's. Wish I could post the graph on here... 30k limit? ack. -Matt

Thnx mloretitsch, so even are the 2 10" 9500 1500 watt rms it won't help, and how many dB a single MTX Thunder 9500 12" in a ported box will be? can you check that or have an idea how much it 'll be and for the 2 10" 7500 also? because we test 2 10" Thunder 7500 series in a sealed box and a single 12" Thunder 9500 in a ported box with the same Amp. and the single 12" 9500 win. the 2 10" 7500 was a bit weak outside the car. my MTX dealer told us to go with 12" but we want to stay with 10" because of the room space. and i tought that 1500 watt rms should be very powerfull. thnx again.

honestly watt mesument isn't the best way to judge, and computer measures aren't always all that great. it depends on the box, posabilities of cancellation throughout the car, angles, were your measuring from, all of the above and 10 times more. rule of thumb my cone space theory. give me 4 jensen, pyle, crunch, pyramid, etc... 12's and 2 9500 10 and i will almost garenty that with all my knowlegde and effort in both the four twelves even shhh brands will me louder. im not talking from my ass i've apeared in 6 different car audio magazines and more than a hundred awards from diffrent shows and class levels. it's all in the design. for example our shop built a car with 4 9500 12's,truck blow through to specs and 2 hifonics collosous amps 3000 watts rms each, 6000 total, all the battery power needed and upgrade alternators. LOUD AS ****!!!!!!!!!!!! but another came in that saw his and wanted louder with less speakers and less watts and less batteries and less alternators, etc..... with 3 kicker solo x 12's, 3 1600 watt rms amp same truck differant year same design for the most part,(blow through) and the 3 12's kick it's ass by almost 2.6db (double).LOUDER THAN ****!!!!!!!!!!

I use WinISD and the Unibox spreadsheet models. I understand that it is very hard to model a car interior, but I thought this would at least give some direction. I agree with the above post about cancellations. I spent a few hours determining the best place for a 12" sub in my girlfriend's monte carlo. Pointing towards the trunk about 5 inches away in the back driver's side corner. That yielded the highest output at the driver's seat so I mounted it there.

Matt, when you make a higher member status, I believe it's Silver, you'll get a "file upload" icon next to the image upload in the reply box. The size limit for that is 500K. Meantime you can upload graphs via a host. ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

The four 12s are louder because they have alot more cone area than the two 10s and are more effecient probobly. It's all about displacement and efficiency.

All I know is i got a 15" MTX RoadThunder sub and it suits my needs and exceeds them!
