me and my friend put one in this weekend and his did not have a amp for it, so it was straight speaker wire hookup with no amp turn on.  I would suggest getting a wire harness because the wire colors are really off and we got one from best buy.  It was not that hard and since the batterys are in the back makes amp hookup a whole lot easier

well, i just got the car in and i pulled the radio and low and behold this one has the boston premium sound system, nothing on the factory plug matches up with the metra harness, so does anyone have any suggestions on what would be my easiest way to adapt a new head unit in this vehicle?

hi,

the amp is behind the drivers side dash to the left of the steering column.  used wires at amp and extended them to the rear of vehicle to more powerful amplifier

is there anyway to use the factory amp if you feed it low level from a new head unit?

im assuming if you bypass the amp and try running the factory speakers with a new head unit 40wx4 , its probably going to sound worse than the stock amplified system, correct?
