I have an old jensen piece of garbage 30X4 head unit. it has no remote wiring hook up. so i figured id hook it up to the ignition switch on the wiring harness... the amp is also old and only puts out 250 watts (maybe?) its an MTX Thunder 250X. which i think is getting power.. the light comes on and everything but when i bridge the wiring to the 1 1300 watt peak sony xplod sub that i have... nothing. please answer back seeing as tho i have my entire interior ripped apart and i dont feel like driving around like that for long. thanks

Put a test speaker on the amp and see if you get sound.

Yes, if the light is turning on, then so is the amp.

How is the amp getting signal?  Are you using RCA's?  Are you sure your sub is good (does it play in your car, did you test it)?

Check with a multimeter to see if you're getting signal back to the amp.  Disconnect any speakers you have connected to the amp.  Set your multimeter to AC voltage, and with the volume on the deck turned up, test the RCA's for voltage.  Touch one probe to the center pin of the RCA, and the other probe to the shield on the outside.  Make sure you have signal on both left and right channels.  If you have signal back at the amp (you should get a half a volt or more), plug the RCA's in, and test for output at the speaker terminals.  Test each channel individually- left and right.  Then test them bridged.  It could be that one of the channels is bad.
