Heh guys:

Okay so my 13w6 is dead.
Good riddance.

After some soul-searching, I've decided that I'm replacing it with 3x10's... I want something that will be powerfully loud.

Now, generally, overrunning something is always better than underrunning it..but.. that is kinda a general rule. I have a real precise plan:

I'd love to put 3 Kappa Perfects in my car.. I'm kinda down between those and the JBL GTO series... I have an e1800D amp.. so I'm looking at about 600 - 650 watts output.. I'm guesstimating, at 2.6 ohms.

In a 2.65 cft enclosure I can get away with a pair of 3" ports and a beautiful response curve:

Infinity Kappa Perfect:
Number of drivers : 3
Box type          : Vented
Box size          : 2.650 ft^3
Tuning frequency : 28.00 Hz
Vent              : 2 vent(s)
                    15.78 in length for each
                    3.00 in round

             Relative
Freq        Gain        SPL
[Hz]        [dB]        [dB]
20.00        -12.58       115.22
25.00        -6.24        121.57
30.00        -2.77        125.03
35.00        -1.31        126.49
40.00        -0.75        127.05
45.00        -0.52        127.29
50.00        -0.40        127.41
55.00        -0.32        127.48
60.00        -0.27        127.53
65.00        -0.24        127.56
70.00        -0.21        127.59
75.00        -0.19        127.62
80.00        -0.17        127.64

With a ported box anyway, would not 200watts or so/woofer be adequete for my goals...?

The JBL GTO series looks as good... albiet with a much bigger hump..
JBL GTO 10DVX

70.00        0.98        122.78
75.00        0.93        122.73
80.00        0.87        122.67

The <40hz drop off is a little steeper than I'd like.. but only 2dB?

Which setup would you guys go with? The GTO's are 250RMS.. placing them right in line with my amp.. of course, needless to say I've soem reservations about putting the lowest end-speaker of any given lineup in my car..

BTW... the amp has a 30hz subsonic filter.. so I'm primarily concerned with the 30 - 80hz range.

Id be putting in closer to 400RMS per Kappa perfect in my opinion. My single 12 handles 500+ with NOoo problems.
Don't go underpowering thoughs bad boys! Would love to see ya setup once done. Perfects white annodized finish looks super smooth. You should go all out with fabric n get some white carpet! Hope it goes to plan!

Hehe thanks dyson.

I kinda thought this thread was sort of a misfire.. to much information or some such problem. I dunno.

Actually, the Perfects were not on sale any more at sounddomain.com ... so I actually picked up 3 of these .... I'm kinda rolling the dice I guess cuz I've never heard these, but the WinISD model is absolutely *gorgeous*.. with a 3cft vented box I can get +-2dB from 30 to 80 hz!

Soo I'll be underrunning 'em a bit, but judicious gain setting and a large enclosure should more than make up for it.
