a friend of mine gave me a kenwood kac-716 2ohm stable mono amp that was made in 1996. i tested it out and the amp works fine and still looks good.

i know a new replacement amp isn't that expensive, but i would hate to just toss an amp that still has some life left in it.

my concern is that i will be using it to power two jl 6w0's and if something goes wrong can it damage them?

thanks.

If it works and you are using it correctly why would you damage anything?  I use an amp that is at least that old in my setup.

I use a 7 year old 4 ch amp for my full range with no problems. It's good till it stops working, if it's brand new or 9 yrs old.

Some of the older amps are better than the newer models. If it works fine, use what you have.
