I recently bought 2 12" subs in a box with a 400 watts amp but I went and got another amp and it is 800 watts. The problem is that the 400-watt amp sounds better than the 800. I've tried everything check the ground, power, even the speaker polarity. I tried playing with the x-over but it still sounds a little weak. Tried messing with the gain but that just makes it sound worse when it is going full blast. I've also tried bridging it but that just turns on the protect mode and makes the amp heat up faster. Could somebody please help me??

This is a really easy problem to solve:  put the 400 watt amp back in.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
