Maybe this has been posted before. if so, i never saw the answer to the question i was looking for, yes i did a search.
I want to wire an amp and a Sub into my 01 sunfire GT. With the Monsoon stereo system. but i would like to use the factory deck. is it possible for me to run a wire, from the sub part of the rear 6x9 speakers to the amp? even though there is that factory amp in there? and if i splice off the rear speakers, will it ruin the sound to my 6x9's? and more importantly will it even work? i would love to do it this way so i dont have to go through the hassle of moving the deck to the back and all that not so fun crap. Let me know asap please.

i should also mention im mostly looking for this sub to create some bass.

sure, tap an LOC of the signal going to the rear woofers and then feed it into an amp for a sub, should work fine..... and no it wont affect the sound from the 6X9's assuming you use a good quality LOC....

ok im still a n00b to this. a couple of the local places said it wouldnt work, i guess i can try it. and if not its not like i wasted money, i just need to do more work lol. but im going to ask a noob question, whats a LOC?

crap, and also it doesnt matter about that factory amp? i can tap into right where the speakers meet the wiring? and not worry about that amp f**king things up?

well the signal from the amp will be crossed over already, but it wont matter if you are adding a sub because you will cross it over again with the low pass on the amp you install.... it would matter certainly if you tapped into the high pass signal going to the tweeters, but not the woofers.... LOC= Line Output Converter I would use something like a PIE or Soundgate differential converter.... ------------- Kevin Gerry

awesome. thanks alot for helping me out. i was woried i would have to spend more money then i wanted just to get a couple subs in the car. also from what i understand i can get a high frequency amp, and i wouldnt even need the Line output converter? A mono amp is the way to go from what i see, so if i get one with a high freq input, then i dont have to worry about the loc.
Also one more question. a 1000w sub. what kind of amp should i be looking for to power that? would just a 400w do the trick? or should i look bigger?
