I've recently installed an Eclipse double-din in a 2000 Cadillac Deville and now I'm stumped.  The bulb to the volume control at the steering wheel and a couple dash buttons has gone out.  It can't be a blown fuse or else no illumination at all would exist, right?  I'm guessing that it could be a surge problem because the battery (surprise, surprise) went dead and I charged it with our shop charger.  Has anyone encountered a similar dilema?  Feedback will be appreciated.

Sometimes lamps just go out. It happens. While the act of charging the battery MAY have had something to do with it, I wouldn't necessarily say THAT is what did them in, specifically. The lamps ARE 5 years old, after all. How many times has a lightbulb burned out in your house? Had it lasted five years? Replace 'em and move on. BUY SEVERAL EXTRA, 'cause I'm willing to bet you there are going to be more going out in the relatively near future.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
