Just bought a new deck - Eclipse 5435 - with aux-in so that I can use my iPod. Having it installed on Thursday since my installer told me that he needed to drop by RadioShack to buy the proper hookups. I am a bit concerned about the sound quality of the cable however, as RadioShack products seem to be not all that great. Do you guys think I should purchase some better cables (if so, what would you reccomend) because RadioShack is junk or am I being too paranoid? Is it a bit odd that a shop selling high-end car audio would use RadioShack cables?

I think you will be fine with RS cables.

MOST cables have little to do with the sound quality, anyway... this has been debated over and over - even here in this forum.

1: You are in a CAR! The noise floor is SO high in a car, it does not matter WHAT kind of cables you use, you are NOT going to hear a difference, whether it was for your iPod or an external 24/192 soundcard plugged into your laptop...
2: You are connecting a iPod. AT IT'S BEST, an iPod is a low-fidelity device (although, it IS better than most of the portable compressed music players out there), so once again, it won't matter what kind of cables you use.

Yeah, get the RS cables... and if you really want to spend the extra money, if your deck has RCA auxiliary inputs, use this cable, and if it uses an 1/8 stereo jack (like mine does - the Eclipse 8051), use this cable.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

yea speedwayaudio1 and haemphyst are right. if anything they're just prettier than doollar store cables with a little more shielding   but   if you do want good cables   i have a crap load of esoteric musica cables if you want to take some off my hands (they're regular RCA's so you might not need them)
