do these cars have a factory amp turn on wire to be hooked up after u install or before i should say a aftermarket head unit. my buddy just left and he said when the radio is on zero distortion comes out of the speakers i dont know (help)
i'm not really sure what the question is... did you maintain the factory amp or bypass it? you say "when the radio is on zero distortion comes out of the speakers".... this is a good thing.... or do you mean that zero audio is heard? and if so, is this only on radio or on disc as well?

If you don't know if there is a factory amp pull the carpet back on the drivers side in the trunk and you should see it (the grand Am I had was a 2002 with the 8 speaker Monsoon system). If the is an amp then there is a wire you have to splice in with your harnes to turn it on. I don't now about the 2000 GA but I had to relocate the factory deck to the trunk with a special harness because if you don't there is a possibility the airbags will deploy unexpectedly. Hope this helps you.
