my brother is getting an integra & he bought a 12" L5 for $100. he is looking for about 500Wmin & 800Wmax. what kind of amps can power this sub its a 4ohm DVC.

he'd have to look for an amp that can handle 800W at 2ohms right?

thanks, any help would be great.

The Kicker S12L5's can only handle 600 watts RMS. A 4 ohm DVC can either be wired to 8 ohms or 2 ohms, so you would need an amp that is around 600 watts RMS at 2 ohms.

What price range are you looking in?

lol, whoops! not my sub, so i dont know much about it. yeah i thought it could be wired for both 8 or 2ohms, just wanted to double check. well my brother is not looking to spend much, unless he has to. i think he is looking to spend around $200 for a used one & probably $300 for a new amp.

any recommendations?

Well, you don't have a whole lot of choices if you want 500-600 watts RMS in that price range. The best thing I suggest you do is go to www.crutchfield.com and you can narrow your search to mono amps and your price range.
