this might sound stupid, but why are infinity kappa series 2005 models all imedance 2 ohms, even their component speakers are two ohms, wont that lessen the quality?

According to the website, all Kappa series are 4 ohms.

Good question...I can't think of a good reason to do that, either.  We all know an amplifier will perform at a lower standard into a 2 ohm load.  But here's what Infinity says in their web page with the Kappas:

SLI high-output design. Conventional 4-ohm speakers do not leverage allof the power available from today's car audio amplifiers and high-powered head units. This topology extracts every last watt from the amplifier source, increasing overall system output and efficiency.

Maybe they're positioning this line to be used with the new higher-power head units that are becoming more available?  More mainstream, perhaps.  Or following the Bose model...

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

It probably has more to do with amplifiers because I'm sure people love reading the specs of their new mono amps where it says like 2000x1 at 2 ohms, but only 1000x1 at 4 ohms. (This is the T30001bd, if anyone was interested) It seems that more wattage means more bragging rights to a lot of people now. I guess some people don't understand the importance of quality along with quantity.
