I have a 2003 pontiac grand am cd player that I am trying to put into a 1986 pontiac firebird. I got a factory into radio harness from metra, but I'm having problems installing the cd player. I have it all wired up, but the only power I have is for the lights and the display. There doesn't seem to be any power for the actual disc player. Anyone know which wire into the radio needs power for the actual unit itself, as it does not seem to be turning on when I hit the poweer button

Do you know if the factory radio from the Grand AM is a Class II Databus radio? If so it may not properly integrate into your Firebird. Not sure about this but it could be the cause for it not powering on.

you nailed it...post 2000 Pontiac radios will not work in pre 2000 vehicles as they are a class II radio.....
