If I was to use my Fosgate BD1000.1 with the Hx2 sub (dual 4ohm) I could safly run it at 2ohms? It's one of the older amps and I know it can run 2omhs with out any problem. Or am I miss under standing this?

When the relays are at rest (normally closed position) the woofer coils are wired in series. When ground is applied to each coil (energizing the relay coils), the voice coils are wired in parallel. With 2 four ohm voice coils you'll have an 8 ohm load at rest and a 2 ohm load when the relay coils are energized.

For each dual voice coil woofer that you want to change from series to parallel, you'll need two relays for each. They can all be controlled from the same switch.

i would just wire the coils in parallel to run the amp at 2 ohms

curious whats the purpose of wiring in a relay to that?   what do you gain from it?  why would you need to switch the wiring like that?

this is really your only option of wiring on your subs. The bd1000 is not 1 ohm mono stable so you will have to run it at 4 ohm. Getting about 500-600 watts out of it

Uh, where did he say 2 subs?

Yes you can run the amp at 2 ohms without a problem.

Well I really do have 2 of the same one I only asked about one because I have never seen that type of setup before, as far as wireing I know how to do all that with different subs. Thanks though, I just was not sure if there was an advantage to that set up or not.posted_image
