hey

im installing and in-dash cd/dvd player and somehow now when i put my key in the ignition my day time headlights come on, i dont even have to turn the key, also the dvd player keeps turning on and off for some reason. unit is a pioneer avh-p7580dvd and my car is a 2000 hyundai accent, any help is appreciated! , also my 1st time posting , so hello everyone-DJ

Hello. Did you use the proper Metra or Schoshe wiring harness adapter for your install or did you cut up the car's wiring harness?

the person who owned the car before me hacked the $hhh outta the wiring harness, so the wires are cut, also i took the car to tweeters and they said $500 for an install becuz harness was cut, so i left and i noticed that after they looked at my car now my in dash lights wont work...i cant even see how fast im going at night, i work 13 hours a day so time is tight and a week has passed, no way to prove they did it now.

Your situation is exactly why people should never cut up a factory wiring harness and always use an adapter. A $40 adapter is a hell of a lot cheaper than a $500 repair bill. You might get lucky if you contact a local pro-audio shop. They may have a factory wiring harness laying around you can buy and splice it back in yourself. Or call a Hyundai dealer. But more likely you're going to have to pay a shop to repair your car before you can do anything. It's certainly not safe the way it is. Sorry.

Somehow your factory radio illumination lead has been put to ground and the fuse has blown ( fairly common in hack jobs ) Look for your dash light fuse and replace it. Hopefully the wire is still not grounded and your lights will come back on. If it blows again follow DYohn's advice and find a good local indipendent shop. $500?!?! They should be wearing a mask and carrying a gun!

well, my in dash lights are out , and indicators not functioning, just installed a cd plyayer and now reading from tcss i'm sure that i've done what's said. above.

can't finde the dmmmn !! wiring schematics online, so figured to try the cheap way and not use an adaptable harness at a local auto shop.

will wake in the morning and buy one hook it up. and replace all fuses.

will that work? or is the light also blown in the dash. hope not cause that another step just for not taking one step and buying the dgone harness adapter..

I dont know if the previous owner did some type of really bad hack job, but if the harness is just cut off you can go to best buy and get a new factory harness installed for like $30-50 dont remember the exact price. From there you can just wire it up with an aftermarket harness and pretend this whole mess never happened.
