Subject: Amp/4th order bandpass question?

Hey guys, any answers will help greatly! I have two seperate 4th order bandpass boxes loaded with two 4 ohm single voice coil 12" woofers which are wired in parallel for 2 ohm load. I have two amps that are stable down to 2 ohms(one for each enclosure). When I first wired it up I bridged the amps mono(+ from left channel; - from right channel). Amp paperwork says mono wiring =4 ohm load. First question, what ohm load did I put on the amps? Anyway, my amps kept going into protection mode. Okay, now for my main question. I now have each box running off of just one channel of each amp and the other channel open (nothing connected). Would it be better to run each woofer off of 1 channel each or leave it the way it is? Also, if I run each box off of only one channel, is it better to have two amps or should I run both boxes off of one amp and sell the other amp? If anyone could configure this system optimally I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Tim (By the way, the 12's are 400 watt rms each, the way I have it now each channel puts out 500 watts rms at 2 ohm, if I wire each sub to a channel the amp puts out 340 watts rms per channel at 4 ohm. Thanks)

Which EQUALS 2 ohms per channel...

One ohm per channel - TWICE what it is rated for

You have 4 channels of amplification, and 4 woofers. The best you can do safely, is 4 ohms per channel, all 4 channels running.

You don't have enough output with 1360 watts? You may need to have your hearing checked. Run it in 4 channel mode - one woofer to each channel, and be done with it...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
