I have a 2002 Avalanche.  I want to install my Clarion VRX935VD in the stock opening.  I am aware of the screen hitting the shifter.  My questions are about wiring.  It doesn't have the Bose option.  Also, I DON'T want to use the OnStar either.  Does anyone have any recommendations on wiring this?  I think I might run new speaker wires.  Holla back at me.  Thanks

But does my stock radio have a separate amp...I thought the Bose systems only had external amps?...Mine isn't a Bose system...Can I just hook up the unit as normal and just disregard the OnStar crap?

No you probably have a stock amp in there. I thought the same thing and then couldn't figure out why I had no sound once I'd installed everything. Easiest thing to do would be to open the glove box, pop out the insert and look behind it, if you see a large aluminum colored box with a bunch of wires running through it then you have a factory amp. Chances are good that you do even though it's not a bose system.

WOOOOW!!!   It sounds sooo much better since I bypassed that stupid amp.  I'm still using the stock H/U for the moment.  I can't believe the difference in sound quality!!!  Thanks a lot!!
