Where can i get a list of precise cars that will not work when the factory HU is removed and also what is the name of the kit that you have to use in order to hook up the factory Hu somewhere in the car so the aftermarket HU will work.

Also is there any way to bypass having to install the factory HU?

to my knowledge there is no vehicle out there that will not operate or run without the radio. do you have any examples of these vehicles or were you told this second hand? even the pain in the butt class 2 and GM LAN vehicles run without the radio. even the Toyota Prius will run without the radio, and alot of info goes through the radio.

Yes you can use an OEM-1 by-pass from metra it plugs into the factory harness and allows you to connect aftermarket. We carry them on our website. You can also use our website to find out what vehicles take the by pass.

I wonder if there is a list of vehicles that won't work with the engine taken out??? J/K.

There really isn't any type of vehicle that won't function without the factory radio. Some things may cease to work like chimes or onstar but who cares, that is why they make adapter harnesses and chime modules.

I know the new VW Jetta (MKV) won't start with the headlight switch removed for some strange reason..... but the radio? Doubt there are any...

yeah newer cars with onstar and other special features.   but i've heard of people relocating stock hu under the seat or tuck away under the dash for the oem options.
