i have a 99 silverodo ... and when the sub's hit the head light and the cab light flickers ..... is there any way to solve this with out messin with the alt. ..... i have a sony xplod 1200 with 2 pioneer 10's 350 watt .... but i plan on bumpin it up a notch and getting some 12's ... not sure how many watt yet but prolly 450 or 800 ..... and would like to no if the answer for the question above  would work on the 12's also .....

and if a alt. is the only way to fix it .....tell me what i should get .... newbie in the world of speakers .....

have you  tried using a voltage capacitor?  they reserve power for when the subs hit hard so your headlights won't flicker.

^^^^ wrong advice but stick around and learn at the same time. Read the grounding sticky at the top of the forum and do a search for the BIG 3. This will help you more than any band - aid cap ever will. A cap does not create power, it uses and stores it. Most amplifiers already have a internal cap bank, there are very few circumstances that warrant a additional cap be used.

yes listen to the man above.  check out your big three.  you just drawing too much current for you electical system.
