i'm installing the kicker ks5.2 door speakers with tweeters/crossovers for my friends 98 toyota t100 truck, i installed the mid range speakers to the crossover and left tha factory speakers wires hanging loose, connected to tweeter to tha crossover and connected wires for the input to tha amp... am i doing something wrong i got the mid range speakers to go but the tweeter isn't playing anything... help me if you guys can thanks a lot

try the other outputs for the tweeters on the crossover

It sounds like you have them wired correctly. Amp to crossover, then wires to each set of speakers from the crossover. I would double-check the wiring, make sure you have the correct polarity (positive to positive, etc.) for the tweets, and look for pinched wires. Also make sure the amp does not have a low-pass crossover set up, because that would cut out the high frequencies.

well i just connected both the wires from the mid range and tweeters together then hook those up to the factory wires from the cd player/deck... is it ok if i just leave it like that because it seems to be working fine and do i need to use a crossover? thanks for the replies

dannyboi, that wasn't a good thing to do. You have effectively placed a 2 ohm load onto the deck with full range signal going to the tweeters. They will burn out promptly...and if they don't the deck will.

Tape up any wires that are not connected to anything. You don't want a wire to touch ground, whether it's OEM wire or new speaker wire. If you can't get this system up and running (WITH the crossover - yes, it's necessary), rather than twist wires together to see what happens.....your friend should think about taking this job to a pro for installation.

oo thanks a lot for telling me im gona disconnect it asap i dont wana mess up my friend's car, but thanksssssssss a bunch ill figure out how to work it with the crossover
