I just bought a 99 Navigator, I have two problems though. It has the factory Alpine stereo with the 6 disk changer. The audio readout does not light up and the a/c is not blowing cold. Any ideas as what might causing this??

Need some more info about the problem. Was anything installed before this happened ? When you turn the A/C on, does the condensor / evaporator bubble up ? If there's no bubbles, then your freon leaked out and you might have a pin hole in your lines. Another thing to look at is if there's an A/C fuse blown. As far as the readout goes, it's a LCD display and they go all the time so you might be SOL on this.

I just bought the car today, but I don't think anything was installed in there before. Where would I go about checking the condensor?? I will check the A/C fuse tonight. With the LCD display is it easier to fix than replace the h/u?? My apologies but I don't know much about the problem, it seems as though the rear a/c blows colder than the front.

If you just bought the car today, bring it back to the dealership or the person that you bought it from and get them to fix it. It's less than 12 hours old and you have 2 problems with it already ? As far as the condensor goes, there's a silver ( maybe a different color ) cylinder with a small glass window where you will be able to see bubbles flowing through it if the coolant is circulating. If you see bubbles, then there's no problems. If it's dry in there, you have a leak.

local repair guy in my area fixes those ford/linc radios for $15 if you have it out...many ford fact. radios have that same problem...think he told me it was something like the solder going bad on this one inparticular board...easy to fix and i have sent many people his way...check out someone in your area...chances are they will know exactly what you are talking about
