Im going to be putting in a Alpine IVA-D300 head unit in a 96 accord.  I was wondering if someone could tell me how to bypass the safety feature so you can play dvd's while driving.  Thanks

Nope.  That is unsafe and illegal.  Don't do it.

I know on some you can put a switch on your ground wire to the parking brake, then switch it once the car is already moving. Or you might just be able to ground it anywhere.

Some of these units have a unit that senses when the car is moving, but i believe there is a way to play dvds over the nav program. A guy at the car audio shop i always go to told me how to get past the motion sensor on the pioneer AVIC-N2s, but I forget how its done. Ill ask him next time in in there, but I cant gurantee itll work for a your alpine.

...and STUPID!!!! Hey, dumbass, why don't you think about the OTHER people on the road? How about their safety?

I've heard the story... "but I'll never have an accident..." uh, huh... sure you'll never have an accident. Just don't do it, and don't do it for a customer, either. Risking OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES, just so you can watch a movie on the way to gramma's house. Asinine! Insist on watching that movie, and you might not ever MAKE it to gramma's house, and you might keep me from making it to MY gramma's house at the same time, jagoff!

I'll have you know that I call the police WHENEVER I see a DVD playing in a car... yep, I get the plate number, and/or I follow it, guiding the highway patrol RIGHT TO THE OFFENDING CAR, and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to do the same thing for you. Bet I'm not the only guy that does this, either...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
