I have a 04 Impala, the cigarrette lighter shorted out some wires and ended up causing so much damage that i had to change the entire whip inside the car. now the stereo turns on but no sound out of the speakers. this is the factory stereo. i am not sure if there is a way to test if the problem lies in the stereo or the wiring. thanks casey

You should be able to test each speaker with a 9 volt battery. If the speaker makes a poping sound then its not the wiring. You can check the head unit with a test speaker (one you know works like the one you just tested). Does the car have a premium sound system that includes an amp?.
