I was looking at optima yellow tops for 159 each after core charge. If I get a new rockford 40 farad cap can I stick with 1 battery up front and the cap in the rear will that be enough? I'm also looking for an altinator upgrade over the winter but i'm saying to myself good luck finding one for a 1997 corolla! Maybe Dominick from sound domain? Anyone have any suggestions?

definetly Alternator upgrade !!! if u put caps and new batteries all ur doin is delaying the inevitable which would be a discharged battery even if its an optima.. the battery is only as good as how much charge it has so focus on the source of the power which is the alternator... i think u might be able to get a rebuild to a 150amp and then put the optima and the cap and u should be ok with that.

Two Yellow Tops would have more capacity than 10 of those RF caps in parallel. Parallel a pair of Yellow Tops with a 200-amp relay between them. You'll have a power source that could run an electric chair. posted_image

Dominick Irragi is an outstanding rebuilder.. his reputation is spotless, around this board anyway. Your best bet might be the pair of batteries and a new alt.

Actually, I have a 150-amp alt for my 93 Corolla. I know of several HO models that are direct bolt-on and can provide links if you'd like.
