What is the best way to hook up a one DVC 4ohm sub to a 2channel amp?
amp specs:
2x200 @ 4ohms
2x400 @ 2ohms
1x800 @ 4ohms

I got this from a friend

should i wire in parallel and hook up to one channel
or run each coil to a different channel?

ill be using the subwoofer output from my headunit if that matters.

That amplifier cannot be bridged into your voice coils in parallel.  Placing the two 4-ohm VCs in parallel creates a 2-ohm load.  Your amp is only 4-ohm stable.  The only way you can use that amp and a 4-ohm DVC woofer is by connecting each VC to a separate channel.

i have that amp and sub.

What i meant when i said wire in parallel is to use just one channel on the amp and leave the other empty.
sorry for the comfusion.

so would it be better to wire in parallel and leave one channel empty or hook up each coil to a seperate channel.

i think i would get 400 watts either way, but which would give a better sound?

No, it would be better to wire one VC to each channel.  Far far easier on the amp.

Assuming you use the subwoofer output from your HU, simply connect to both channels.  Use a Y-connector if you only have one output.  No it will not harm your woofer.
