I'm building a ported box for my 2 12in sony xplod.  Do I build it to the size it say on the spec sheet or do I add the volume of the speakers to the volume it say to build it at to have the right size.  I also thought that ported boxs was bigger than sealed but it says to have less volume then the sealed box.   So should I make it bigger or stick with the recommeded specs, and i'm trying to get spl.

You think you could provide the forum with the model number of the subs and a link?  And a link to the manual that gives you building directions?

Generally, to answer one of your quesions:  read the manual carefully.  It will indicate that the driver displacement has been considered if that's the case..oftentimes you have to read between the lines to get what they're saying.  If they're telling you how and what size to build the box with the knowledge of the given subwoofer and the fact that there's two of them, they've probably already included the displacements...but don't count on it until you've looked it over real good.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

It says "Net volumes do not include the air volume displaced by the speaker and port" so I got to add them to it right?
