I searched for this information and couldn't find an answer to my question.

Heres the situation.  After spending money on a high end HU, mono amp and sub I ran into some finincial trouble and bought a super crappy amp for my mids.  (fear not, this is only temporary so I can hear some music until I can afford the amps I really want.)

The Audiovox amp I got has both RCA (low level) and speaker (high level) inputs.  The label says "High Level 2V - 10V" & "Low level 0.2V - 2V" My concern is that my HU puts out 5V.

Can I forget the label and plug my RCA's into the low level input?  What would I be risking?

Should I make an adapter so that I can plug the RCA's into the speaker level inputs? If so, which connection on an RCA is positive?

Or should I quit being a cheap ass, ditch the audiovox, and jam out to the noise of my motor until I can afford the good stuff?

dumping the audiovox would be a good idea but the issue with the rca preamp voltage can be compacated at the gain control for you rca inputs at the amp. thats if that amp has them. it should, two small holes on either side of the rca's. just keep them down to like a 1/4 of the way. you should be fine untill you get ya a real amp then you can learn about adjusting your systems gains the right way by doing some research in this forum or on this website. hoped i helped.lol
