alright...i've got a customer that's interested in buying a MTX setup (i don't deal with mtx, buying from competition) there planning on putting in a 7801 amp, 2 - 7500 12" subs, 2 caps(1 farad each) , and a optima yellow top, along with a factory MTX thunder box,

, i priced up a system for him that i felt might keep up with the one he's interested in, i suggested a GTO601.1 JBL amp, and 2 JBL power series 12" subs (dual 2 ohm to series them back to 4 ohm and parallel both to 2 ohm ) these subs would be in the recomended box accodring to the specs and i also included a yellow top as well.

got a couple questions on this one...which system would be louder...the guys' not over concerned with SQ, it's also going into a 1994 toyota tercel. which is why the second battery..i know the alt in that tercel aint very big

my second question would be, seems to me like the MTX company is selling him more then he needs (referring to the 2 caps)  because i've always read that a yellow top could take the place of several caps...or is it just me ?

MTX vs JBL:

Which one will be louder? Depends on enclosure. Will both setups be sealed or vented? If they are running the MTX vented and your planning on sealed for the JBL. Then I would say the MTX in a vented enclosure should outperform the JBL. But if both are in identical setups, who knows?

Selling him more than he needs? To each his own. I myself believe that Caps are a hoax. But thats one mans opinion and his installer may think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

JBL = 580 watts @ 2 ohms / 14.4 volts

MTX = 1000 watts @ 2 ohms / 14.4 volts

Regardless of the enclosure the MTX will defintely outperform the JBL's because it's putting out more power to the subs. The 7500 series in a Sledgehammer enclosure will no doubt in my mind have a higher SPL than the JBL system. The thing about the rating is that the vehicle has to be able to sustain a 14.4 voltage output in order to maintain the values above. The caps will do some good and the Optima battery is a good choice as well, but in the end the small 65 amp OEM alternator that the Toyota has will be the bottle neck in the system.
