This may seem a dumb question, but I'm trying to wire some Rockford Fosgate spl-138 4x6 plate speakers without any wiring info. It came with a coil and a cap to be wired in, but no instructions on what goes where. I have a coil with (IN) white and Black wires (from source?) and (out) yellow and black wires. Then there is the capacitor. I have 2 seperate drivers on the plate, the small tweeter and the larger driver. Could someone give me a little lesson?

I deleted the answer I gave earlier because It could be a 2nd order crossover that goes to the tweeter, which would probably make more sense. Have to know the values of the components...hope they're labelled. Here's that link again:

There is a 50v 47mfd capacitor that is loose, and a printed circuit board with a orange-ish device labled 100v, 335k that is tied on one side to the white wire, and to one wire of the small coil and the yellow wire. The black wires are tied to the coil and themselves. I'm not sure now that there is a second cap on this pcb. It doesn't really look like either diagram on the link you gave me. The speakers are listed as 8ohm.
Well, that's confusing. I thought you had two loose components with those drivers. You said in the original post that it came with a coil and a cap, but now you said, "I'm not sure now that there is a second cap on this pcb. It doesn't really look like either diagram on the link you gave me."
Try to paint a better picture. Or maybe we'll just keep this thread alive enough that someone who has seen what you have can explain what you should do with it.

Sorry, sometimes things sound better in my head. Here is what i have
I have a PCB with what appears to be a coil (no markings) and some other device which is reddy-orange in color (has 335k and 100v written on the top).
There are 2 wires marked in White and Black and 2 wires marked out Yellow and Black.
Following the solder traces, the 2 blacks are connected to one side of the coil.
The white is connected to the mystery device
The yellow is connected to the other side of the mystery device and the other side of the coil.
I also have a loose capacitor marked 50v 47 mfd
There are 2 drivers on the speaker, one marked sp-38 which is about 3" and 2" deep. The other is about 1" (on the front, 2.5" on the back) around and 1" deep.

What's the intended application? In your car, house? Do you have two sets of these, both packaged identically? Where did you get them?

These are for my 82 mercedes 300sd in the dash opening. I purchased 2 speakers on ebay and came in 2 new unopened boxes. Both boxes were identical with warranty cards, but no instructions on installation. I can't find any info on them on the rockford site or rockford boards, and the seller didn't have any info on them either.
Let me guess: you bought these on EBay? I cannot find any reference to RF ever making any speakers with a model number beginning with "SPL" except for some suspicious looking 8-ohm speakers on EBay Canada. According to RF technical support these were not made by them. My guess is that the little crossover is for the tweeter and the woofer is designed to run full-range. If what you received is broken, send it back and get your money back and stay away from "too good to be true" deals on EBay.
