I'm installing a cd player in my car, but a test light shows there's no power running threw my main power wire, but there is in the wire controlled by the ignition switch. Is my wire damaged or what? Also my car has wires designated for illumination and one for a dimmer, but the cd player wiring harness doesn't. what am i supposed to do with these?

Let me guess: you cut into the wiring harness?  Did you do this with the battery connected?  I hope not in both cases...

In any case, which fuses did you check?  If the power wire has no power and everything is connected properly, either there IS a blown fuse somewhere, your battery is dead, or you do NOT have everything hooked up properly.  Can't be anything else.  Check every fuse in the vehicle.
