alrite right now i have 4 15' in memphis PR subs and my friends wants me to trade my subs and box for his 4 12in kicker l7's ported. which would be louder and i would have 3000 watts rms to his system if we traded and my current setup i had 1200 watts rms. thanks. also how would those l7's sound in a sealed box?

L7s suck. keep the memphis subs and port them if you want more bass.

I had 2 L7 12's in a slot ported box and the hit harder than my friends 4 jl audio 15 wo's in a sealed box it made him cry. l7's dont have the best sq but they will hit in the right box. If u like what u hear do whatmakes your ears happy.  I have 3 memphis 10's in my truck for the time being ( truck was stolen and stripped) am going back to 4 L7's in slot box at end of year when i get all my equipment together.

so do u think with the right enclosure i have much more potenial with gettin higher numbers with the l7's rather than my memphis subs?

Yes enclosure can make or break whole system. The boxes that memphis recommend  dont seem to do to well ive made a few of them. But the boxes kicker recommend have all done very well for spl output. ive built about all of their slotted boxes and have tried many different subs in them even memphis and they have done very well. My last one was the 6 cu. ft one for a memphis 15. the guy i made it for had 4 memphis 12s and he said he thought the one 15 was louder than the four 12s. another happy costomer.U can look at kicker spec on their site just download manual.

If you just want to be loud then definitly go with the L7's.  There SPL is much better than the Memphis ones.  Memphis will have way better SQ though.

ya i want spl but i want to fit as many in my truck sealed rather than just a few and go really big and ported. what would sound bettter 4 12's ported or 8 sealed?

i think the 4 ported would do better for SPL. if you could i would get a 18" solo X   a ported box built to spec. put 5000 RMS on it . that would be LOUD!  i heard one of those subs running off to KX 1200.1's in an explorer and i was impressed. the sub was underpowered with those amps BTW.

ya idk though daily driver wise that would suck. i made my decision i think. 6 12in L7's sealed. it will be aobut 2 cubic foot each seperate chamber for each one. ill put a memphis 1500D to each set of 2. how do you guys think this should sound spl wise? do you guys think i could hit higher than a 144 on the new term lab cuz thats what i hit on my last system? thanks

I have built both the ported and sealed boxes with l7's thet do not do well in sealed boxes . if u want to go sealed go memphis. my cousins 2 mojo 12s are hitting 151 in a eagle talon. But my buddys L7s were much louder in thr=e ported box than sealed, im talking night and day differance

Sorry for double my computer shut down. What kind of room do u have. You can put 2 speakers in a boxwith one port if space is tight with good results.

Use four l7s ported instead of six sealed. It will be as loud (if not louder) than six l7s sealed.

i have about 12 cubic foot at most. i currently have 4 12in l7's. what should i do?

You should definitely go ported.  If you check past threads about L7's, then you will see most people agree that ported is the way to go.

ok on the kicker site they have like different recommendation sizes for ported boxes. they have one that is titled compact. each sub wants 1.75 cubic foot. so i could do all 6 at that size. now would it sound good in this small of a ported box? and would it still sound much better than the 6 sealed in a bigger box? thanks

Oh yeah the compact ported will still give you more spl than the sealed.Talking from experiance i have put that compact box in a dodge stealth with on 12 and it totally walked all over 2 sealed 12s.   another thing ,does you amp have sub sonic filter? if  so make sure you use it on the slot port boxes it will keep your subs from blowing if you have major power.

i dont think it does have a sub sonic filter. it is a jbl bp1200.1  would a memphis mc1500D have one? i would run 2 to each of those.

Yes the memphis has a variable subsonic filter. it will work great with the L7s in ported boxes.

how are the kicker kx1200.1 amps? would the subs sound better with 3 of those or the memphis 1500D's?
