I was wondering...
I will be getting a 2000 ford focus zx3 in about a week or two, i have a 12" Rockford Fosgate punchHE2 (800w) in a Qlogic box that is going to be powered by a Rockford Fosgate typeRF X6 amp (850w) i also have a 1 farad Rockford cap as well.
my question is : ive been looking at the fiberglass forum and i feel pretty comfortable doing something with a fiberglass box. i was thinking about positioning a 8" Rockford stage 2 subwoofer behind the center consel (over the hump on the floor between the seats). this would be powered at 400w. would this extra woofer make a considerable difference or would it just be a waste of $?
Hey douggy, I have an 05 zx3 and I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about. It depends on what you consider "considerable" :-) With the eight inch sub running 400w (max i'm assuming?) it will definately be louder, not twice as loud though. It also depends on what you have the crossovers set at, the eight will be able to play higher frequencies than the twelve so that in itself will give you higher frequency bass response than the twelve is capable of producing. It should make the bass feel more up-front also. One thing you might want to check out is maxxbass at www.wavescaraudio.com I havn't personally tried it but i've read good reviews. Hope this helped.

-Don't buy it, Build it-
I have had lots of problems putting a subwoofer in the center of a car. You lose much of your cabin gain to destructive interferance. Based on this concept you probably wont get much out of your 8" in comparison to your 12". I would spend the time on playing with the placement of the 12".

Been there, done that, just can't remember it.
Are you saying you are goign to install both the 12 and the 8 in the same car? It's a little confusing I guess.

More on the way...
Yes the 12 and the 8 in the same car... the 12 in the hatch (thinking about placement back there still) and the 8 up front more between/ behind the front seats...
