I just bought a new 2003 F150 with a stock tape deck. I really want to keep a somewhat stock appearance, but I gotta have CDs. I'm looking at dropping in a new stock 6 disk in-dash changer, and I'm curious...what would be the best way to add a powered sub to the stock deck, or is it even possible without upgrading the speakers and putting in an amp?

I want to upgrade the stock speakers later, but for now a powered sub would be enough. If its possible to add in the powered sub, should I put in in-line crossovers for the main speakers?

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Unless they really sound like they need it, don't worry about crossing the mains for now, inline's just add distortion unless they are really nice 3-6 order ones. Adding a powered sub would be very easy, just use a high>low level converter to get a signal, or even many self powered subs have high>low level converters in the amp. That should do you very well for in there.

Thanks man. I had thought about that, but I didn't know if that was the best way to do it or what. Should I just split a signal off the front 2 channels to the sub, or would the rear work better?

usually it's done off the rear, but only for convenience sake (they're already in the trunk). Whatever is easiest should work just fine.
