I have looked alot of places (including infinity's website) for the thiele parameters for the 1242w reference series.  Does anyone have them or know where I can find them.

I checked as well and it appears Harmon has not published T/S parameters for this sub model.  You can write them and see if they can send the estimates to you.  Or, you can measure them yourself if you have the tools and time.

Well, I am pretty sure I have the tools.  Is there a link for how to measure them.

Thanks

This will get you the main ones for enclosure construction.  https://www.bcae1.com/spboxad3.htm

I take that back, I don't have the tools.  Do you know of any other place I can look for the T/S Parameter.  I am going to be building a downfiring ported box on Sunday and Would like to have some time to play with WinISD before I start to build.

Or, if someone has the specs for a ported box to build for this sub, i could just build the box.

Thanks

That driver does not exist in the Thiele/Small driver database either.  You'll have to contact Infinity.  Suggested enclosure parameters should be included in the owner's manual for that speaker.

I downloaded the owner's manual.  It only includes a few of the parameters.  Its not enough to design the box.  I e-mailed Infinity.  When they respond, I will be sure to post the parameters on here

Thank you for the help,

Jacob

I just got the e-mail from infinity.  It says "Nominal Impedance: 2 or 8 ohms".  Then it says "Voice coil DC Resistance: 1.85 ohms".  Is something wrong here, because if the voice coils were 2 ohm, the nominal impedance would be 1 or 4 ohms, right.

I know that this is a dual 4 ohm subwoofer though

Voice coil impedence (Le) is different from voice coil DCR (Re).  "Nominal impedence" of 2 or 8 ohms would be correct for a 4-ohm DVC woofer.  DC resistance is a differnet factor.

1.85 is what the pair of coils reads for Re, not each individual coil.  That would indicate that the parameters given are with the coils wired in parallel.  At least that's what it looks like to me.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

OK.  Thanks for the clarification. 1 more question.

I have 2 of these.  If I wire each speaker's voice coils in series, then the two speakers in parelell, that will be a 4 ohm load on the amp, correct.  I am 99% sure it is but would just like to be 100% sure so I won't fry anything.

Thank you,

Jacob
