i just installed 2 12" subs with a 1000 watt amp, and everything seems to work fine for a little bit and then all of a sudden the fuse will blow?? i put in a bigger fuse and it still blows?? any ideas please help need answers asap!!!

What fuse? In the amp or in the power cable someplace? ------------- Support the12volt.com

Yes, tell us you're equipment, and explain under what conditions, if known, the fuse (which fuse) blows.

i am running 2 12" phoenix Gold Octane R Subs with a 1000 Watt 2 Channel Lagacy amplifier, the fuse in the amplifier is the one that keeps blowing but only when the volume is turned up pretty high, about 26 on a kenwood head unit... it is a 30a fuse the amp calls for a 15a so i tried that it blew out with the volume only at like 5 so i went to a 20a and then a 25a and they did the same thing just keep blowing out at low volume??? any ideas thanks for the help

Your fuse probably isn't big enough. Is there one or multiple fuses? The amp may also be defective.

i'm not really sure on those amps or subs but one thing i noticed you didn't mention is how are they wired? are they 4 ohm stereo or 2 ohm mono? maybe even lower then 2 ohm mono?

Something is not adding up. You say your 1000 watt amp only calls for a 15 amp fuse? Even if we assume your amp is 100% efficient, and divide the 1000 watts by 14.4 volts (car running), we are pulling almost 70 amps. This must be the peak rating of the amp. Legacy is not the most trustworthy brand, and is good at inflating they're numbers. What is the RMS rating? How are your subs wired, and what are the impedences (ohms)? ------------- My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

If your lucky your amp will put out 200 watts To me it sounds like you amp is either toast, or you have a grounding issue. Is your gain cranked? if so, turn it down, do a search on how to adjust it.

FYI: Its not usually a good idea to replace a blown fuse with a larger fuse.
