I have a '89 chevy s10 pickup. I'm about to upgrade the stereo, but guess what? I don't know shhh about speaker schemes, so here I am!!!

Ok, there are speakers in each door and on each side of the dash. My question is...

1) What type of speakers are these usually (e.g. midrange, tweeter, woofer...etc,etc)?

2) What would you audio experts suggest to replace these with for the best sound (e.g. midrange, tweeter, woofer...etc/etc)?

I'll give you some suggestions to start. For your front speakers, doors and dash I would suggest looking at either coaxial or component speakers. These consist of a tweeter (for highs) and a mid range usually no larger than 6.5". There are of course exceptions to this rule. The coaxial speaker is a combination of mid range and tweeter all in one piece. The component style consists of a tweeter, mid, and external crossover. These speakers can be powered by the deck's amplifier or an external amplifier

Subs usually require a specific sized enclosure with an amp.
